North West Austin Youth Lacrosse provides K - 8th Grade Boys the opportunity to learn and play America's fastest growing sport. The grade levels for teams are K/1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th & 7th/8th. All NWAYLA teams play in the Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association, playing teams from around the greater Austin area. NWAYLA works closely with the Anderson High School Boys Lacrosse program to provide a feeder program for the high school varsity and junior varsity teams.
Program Summary
The NWAYLA program is expanding rapidly. For the 2010 season we added a 2nd 3rd/4th grade team as well as for the first time ever fielding a 1st/2nd grade team.
During the summer, NWAYLA & Anderson players/coaches put on a "Lacrosse Roundup" where we taught LAX Skills to kids of all ages. The "Roundup" serves to introduce the sport to the younger boys in a fun manner, while teaching valuable skills.
In the Fall NWAYLA will be workng with Anderson High Lacrosse Coaches and Players to put on a Fall Lacrosse Clinic. The Fall Clinic will occur in the late October time frame and will be open to K/1st - 8th graders. The Fall Clinic is a great for both new and experienced players to learn some skills, win some prizes, and have a blast playing the fastest game on grass.
Registration for the Spring Season will open in December for Spring 2011 league play for boys grades K-8. Practice will start in February. The season will consist of ~8 games played primarily on Sunday afternoons starting the end of February/early March. The season will conclude in early May.
